Mike "Coach K" Krzyzewski got a chance to revisit his alma mater and he brought the U.S. Men's National basketball team with him for a preparatory practice ahead of the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

According to a press release, Krzyzewski and Team USA got a tour of the U.S. Military Academy and a chance to meet and play ball with the cadets. Krzyzewski said his impromptu call to include the cadets in the practice could not have gone over better.

"Patriotism and selfless service are two really amazing concepts to feel," Krzyzewski told the USA Basketball website. "And I think you only do it by taking them to locations where they might feel it. Certainly, West Point is one of those locations."

Many of the players on Team USA were happy to get a glimpse of a young Coach K, who played for the Army basketball team. Jokes mostly centered about his short shorts and haircut. He played for the team from 1966 to 1969, then coached the Black Knights from 1970 to 1980 before going on to coach at Duke.

Anthony Davis, who was the team's most impressive player in the Americans' exhibition game win over Brazil, was in awe of the cadets' work ethic.

"You see that type of stuff, and you just want to go harder, especially on the floor," Davis told the website. "You think about all of the stuff that these guys do for us here, and representing us and fighting for us each and every day, so this just makes us want to work even harder and makes us want to go get the gold even more."

Derrick Rose had a special day in the Brazil game, playing in a competitive basketball game for the first time since recovering from a torn meniscus in his right knee. The game was also in the Chicago Bulls' home court to boot. Rose did not participate in the practice Monday, nor did he Tuesday, but is expected to play in the exhibition match against the Dominican Republic Wedensday.

"I'm just going to see how I'm feeling. If I feel alright it will be fine. If not what's two days of rest?" Rose said in the release. "I just wanted to get rest. Everything feels fine. I just wanted to get a little bit of rest."
