Cameron Hunter, a football player at Oklahoma State, has been confirmed as the victim of a stabbing attack in which he was also robbed and abducted.

John Walsh, Hunter's coach at Denton Guyer High School, confirmed to ESPN Monday that the Oklahoma State Cowboys' junior walk-on wide receiver was home and in recovery. Stillwater Police did not confirm or deny the victim's identity and said they have a suspect, though no arrests have been made.

Stillwater Police Capt. Randy Dickerson told the Stillwater News Press Hunter was attacked around 5:30 p.m. Monday on the 1800 block of Arrowhead Drive, a student-populated area. The football player said he remembered being stabbed before a man with white hair forced him into a hunter green pickup truck.

Hunter was later released from the vehicle somewhere else in Stillwater with a laceration on his arm and a puncture wound in his abdomen. The school sent out a crime alert to the Oklahoma State community, but the athletic department said it would not confirm the victim's name during an open police investigation.

People who live in the area say the neighborhood is quiet and unlike a typical college town because mostly graduate students, professors and retirees live there.

"A friend texted me that someone got stabbed near here yesterday," Keith Cox, a junior at Oklahoma State who moved into the area three weeks ago, told the Press.

According to the Denton Record Chronicle, Hunter originally went to the Air Force Academy to play football, before he transferred to Oklahoma State.

"Cameron was such a good kid at Guyer and made good decisions and everything; it's unfortunate it happened to him," Walsh told the newspaper. "When I got the news, I was concerned for his safety. I was really relieved to hear that he is going to be OK."
