Top 10 Schools to Major in Journalism: Which Institution's Graduates Earn $86,000 Mid-Career?
ByJournalism is a changing professional field, but it is suffering as a result and prospective students hoping to earn a degree in the field need to be careful where to go to school.
According to CareerCast.com, journalism is one of worst jobs to pursue in 2014 with a projected growth value of -13 percent by the year 2022. With print publications going under across the nation, the industry has had to adapt.
CareerCast listed the median annual salary for a journalist at $37,090. However, CollegeFactual.com compiled a list of schools whose journalism graduates earn more than that to start their career, then nearly double by mid-career.
The schools on the list may be competitive and, in some cases expensive, but they pay off in the long run. All of the schools are also located in or near major U.S. cities, such as L.A., N.Y.C. and Washington D.C.
