When Teddy Bridgewater's mother drives her pink Cadillac Escalade with pink rims around Miami, people will know who she is by and where her ride came from.

Spike Lee debuted a seven-minute documentary, "A #Promise2Rose," on Good Morning America telling the story of the promise a nine-year-old Bridgewater made to his mother at the time. When they saw a black Escalade on the street, Bridgewater promised his mother, Rose, he would buy her one in pink, complete with pink rims, when he made the NFL.

Now, days away from being drafted and having a chance to negotiate a professional contract, that pink Escalade has taken on a whole new meaning. Since her son's promise, now made 13 years ago, Rose Murphy was diagnosed and beat breast cancer.

In Lee's documentary, Bridgewater celebrated his mother's birthday by surprising her with the car he said he would buy her.

"It was just amazing. I was in awe. I was like, 'Oh my God,'" Murphy said Tuesday, her actual birthday, on GMA. "It was a long time coming and just to see it, I was in awe."

Early in the offseason, Bridgewater was projected to be the number one overall selection, going to the Houston Texans. Now, several draft experts are split and some say he will be an early pick in the second round.

As GMA anchor and breast cancer survivor Robin Roberts told Murphy in the documentary, "this means more to [Bridgewater] than what's going to happen later this week."

No one knows where the former Louisville quarterback is going to be taken, but he may not even care. His promise and his goal since he picked up a football was to make it to the NFL and that's what he is set to do at some point this weekend.

"I'm ready to just get my career started and whatever team I land on, I'm ready to go," Bridgewater said on the show.
