A pro-life group at Yale University has become the first group to be denied full membership in the school's Social Justice Network of Dwight Hall for the upcoming school year, Campus Reform reported.

Choose Life at Yale has been a "provisional member" of the Ivy League university's network for the past year, during which time the group raised money and volunteered extensively for Dwight Hall at Yale, a non-profit organization which aims "to foster civic-minded student leaders and to promote service and activism in New Haven and around the world," Campus Reform reported.

The pro-life group's service and activism efforts include volunteer work at Saint Gianna Center, a nonprofit organization that offers pregnant women information, baby supplies, and help them find employment.

But despite CLAY's efforts, the 90-member Dwight Hall Cabinet voted Wednesday night to deny the organization full membership, blocking further access to Dwight Hall's resources, including funds, cars and printing services.

"We are all obviously disappointed and frustrated with this decision, especially after having gone through this year-long provisional process," Christian Hernandez, the president of CLAY's Spring 2014 board, told Yale Daily News, the school's official newspaper.

Teresa Logue, co-coordinator of Dwight Hall, told Yale Daily News that she made sure that political bias did not interfere with the group's decision.

"We treated CLAY as we did every other group," Logue said. "It was a democratic decision."

However, CLAY President Courtney McEachon told Campus Reform that was not the case.

"It was my understanding that she wore the shirt to put her stance forward that CLAY did not belong in Dwight Hall," McEachon said. "It was kind of just like the nail in the coffin saying she and Dwight Hall did not respect us enough to be unbiased."

The pro-life organization has not decided whether it would continue to pursue membership in the network, Campus Reform reported.
