Jim Calhoun is not interested in the vacant head-coaching job at Boston College, but that does not mean he will not rule out ever coaching again.

Calhoun told ESPN on Sirius XM Radio he was "not interested" in coaching at BC. During his days at UConn, when they were in the Big East, Calhoun and the Huskies developed a rivalry with BC.

Now working as a special assistant to the UConn athletic director, Calhoun may not feel right about coaching at BC.

"I would think about coaching, but it has to be the perfect situation," he said. "I don't have to go hunting for a job. That's not really what I'm desiring to do. But if something special came along, I feel I still have enough zip, power and certainly love for the game, love for competition, that I'd do it. But it'd have to be the right situation for me and for that school."

Calhoun had to stop coaching due to his deteriorating health and he had to miss time during the 2011-2012 season, the year after he won his third national title with UConn.

He has been present at UConn's NCAA Tournament games this year and people who know him well have said he is in great health and spirits. Watching Kevin Ollie, his hand-picked successor, and Shabazz Napier, a freshman on the 2011 title team, flourish may have given Calhoun the itch to coach again.

"At this particular point I just don't know if I would find the answer at Boston College," Calhoun said. "Nothing against Boston College, it's a great school, it's a terrific school in what will be, in my opinion, the best basketball conference in America."

The 71-year-old coaching legend is tied with Bob Knight on the all-time national championship list. They trail only Mike Krzyzewski and Adolph Rupp, who have four titles, and the great John Wooden, who has 10.

"I have not talked to the people at BC. BC has not talked to me," Calhoun said. "You could imagine that with all my Boston ties a lot of people have called me. That's kind of a normal thing, that happens with folks. I will never say never because I love the game and the right situation for me and for the school I would think about. But at this point I'm not interested."
