Neither the Arizona Wildcats (1) nor the San Diego State Aztecs (4) advanced past the Sweet 16 three years ago and, for one team, the same will be said this year.

San Diego State coach says he still watches film from his team's loss to UConn in 2011, the year the Huskies went on to win the national title. Steve Fisher told the Associated Press he can see his team making a similar run right now.

"I still think we were better than Connecticut when they won the national championship," Fisher said Wednesday.

They will have to go through a very similar team to their own. Arizona plays tough defense and also has a ball-sharing offense. The Wildcats spent eight weeks as the number one team in the nation before losing forward Brandon Ashley for the season.

These two teams met in the second game of the season, well before conference play even started. Arizona won 69-60, but they led by as little as four when San Diego State attempted a late comeback.

San Diego State finished the season with the second lowest point total allowed per game and Arizona finished fifth. Coach Sean Miller has spent five years building Arizona back up to the contenders they are now and he has never been to a Final Four. Arizona has been to four Final Fours in its school history and were 1997 National Champions.

San Diego State has only made nine tournament appearances.

"We love playing defense," Aztecs leading scorer Xavier Thames said ahead of the game, according to the AP. "We know offense is going to come, but if we want to win and win big, we have to play defense."

With both teams so adept to playing offense, the game may come down to timely shooting from either Thames or Wildcats leading scorer Nick Johnson.

"They're long, athletic just like us, so they like to press a little bit, create turnovers," Johnson told the AP. "That's going to be the key to the game as far as us just doing what we do, be a defensive team. Take care of the ball when they try to pressure us."
