At one point this college basketball season, Kansas' freshman guard Wayne Selden was a projected lottery pick. Eventually, he wasn't even on most sites' mock draft boards. As a result, he'll return to Kansas next year, ESPN reported.

"Want to let Jayhawk Nation know, I will be returning for my sophomore season! Cant wait to get to work & get back in the fieldhouse #KUCMB," Seldon tweeted.

For an additional slight, Selden isn't even on nbadraft.net's 2015 board. That, however, might be a case of a needed update. On draftexpress.com, he's projected to go late in the first round two years from now.

Ranked the fifth best small forward (he's now more of a shooting guard) in his high school class and a 94/100 according to ESPN's top 100, Selden probably envisioned his freshman season going better than it did. He played a lot (29 mpg) and averaged a respectable 9.7 ppg (considering the bevy of talent on Kansas' roster), but he was rather inconsistent and didn't shoot well from the floor (43 percent).

His best statistical games included the 15 points, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds he had against Duke in the Jayhawks' early season win and 24 and 20 points in back-to-back wins over Oklahoma and Kansas State. His worst were two points in an early season loss to Villanova, four points in a loss to Kansas State, and four points combined in the team's two NCAA Tournament games. Selden's inconsistent play from the guard position, where Kansas was weak, was one of the reasons they didn't fulfill expectations this season (though they still somehow snagged a two seed -- a big mistake in foresight and hindsight by the NCAA committee).

So far, Andrew Wiggins has made clear his intentions to enter the NBA draft. Center Joel Embiid will likely, too, but he hasn't made an official announcement. That means the Jayhawks will likely return sophomore Perry Ellis (13.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg), another projected first rounder in the 2015 draft.
