A New Jersey man was arrested after dozens of heroin packers were found in his 2-year-old son's jacket at a northern New Jersey daycare center, Reuters reported.

An employee at Michael's Energy Factory, a child-care center in Paterson, N.J., discovered 48 glassine envelopes of heroin stuffed into the toddler's jacket on Monday and alerted cops, Paterson Police Lieutenant Bert Ribeiro told Reuters.

The police determined that the toddler's father, Phillip Young, 27, had accompanied the child to the center that day.

The incident unnerved parents whose children attend the daycare center.

"My daughter sees something on the floor, puts it in her mouth thinking it's candy -- same thing could have happened here," Dulce Ibanez, a parent of a child at the day care, told NBC New York.

There was no indication the child knew the drugs were in his jacket, or that other children at the daycare center were exposed to them, Reuters reported.

This is not the first instance of a toddler having heroin in their possession. In July, the parents of a toddler were charged with manslaughter after their 23-month-old son died from ingesting heroin while in the family home, Examiner reported. Thirty-year-old Simon Jones and 34-year-old Emma Bradburn received six and four year prison sentences for their role in the child's tragic death.

Young is being held on $85,000, authorities said. He has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, Reuters reported.
