A 19-year-old college athlete freshman lost his life in a skiing accident at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort.

Alex Kemp, an athlete experienced in various disciplines, skied on Cutter Trail, a black diamond trail categorized as "most difficult" and reserved for expert skiers.

Fox News shared that according to a statement from the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office, Kemp suffered significant head trauma after going over an embankment.

Emergency workers were informed about the incident with a 911 call at 2:39 PM. The ski patrol rushed to Kemp's side. Emergency medical workers then immediately started rendering him appropriate care. Initially, Kemp was sent to Berkshire Medical Center; then he was transported to Baystate Medical Center. According to police reports, no evidence has been found so far indicating an involvement of drugs or alcohol in this tragic accident.

Kemp died, as stated earlier, wearing his helmet on Tuesday from the consequences of injuries suffered.

Kemp was an accomplished athlete and also a very driven student. Kemp was recruited for the Williams College cross-country team.

A Bright Academic Future

In addition to his athletic success, NY Post shared that Kemp was an excellent student, studying political science and economics with the hope of earning a doctorate in computer science. His economics professor, Dukes Love, said he was one of the strongest students he had taught in over two decades. Kemp was a passionate learner and committed to excellence, making him stand out among his peers.

Kemp was not only a great student and athlete but also kind. In high school, he volunteered at a camp teaching children with disabilities to ride adaptable bikes, making them independent. His college application essay reflected his belief in rooting for others and oneself, a feeling that everyone who knew him shared.

The loss of Kemp is a grievous blow for Williams College President Maud Mandel and the university community.
