The Western Washington University community is in mourning after two students died on the same night on campus.

One student was killed after an apparent fall from one of the dorms on Wednesday, university President Sabah Randhawa announced Thursday. School officials were informed the following morning of a second student found dead in a different hall that same night.

Information on the second student's cause of death has not been released yet, and neither student has been identified. The two deaths are not suspected to be connected.

"In both cases, law enforcement personnel have shared that there are no initial indications of foul play, of any connection between the two deaths, and that there is no danger to the broader community," the school said in a news release.

"Together we can find solace and strength in one another, ensuring that our students are remembered not just for their loss, but for the joy they brought into our lives," Randhawa said. "I encourage everyone to reach – whether it's to a friend, a faculty member, a colleague, or a counselor – if you are feeling the weight of this loss."

The university also has encouraged students to seek help if they need support at the WWU Counseling and Wellness Center.
