Miami College Student Arrested After Threatening Social Media Post: 'I'm Bombing It Tomorrow'
Police were able to track the suspect through her IP address
ByA University of Miami student was arrested for allegedly posting a bomb threat on social media which sparked panic and immediate security measures on campus.
Elizabeth Burkly, 19, allegedly posted a photo of UM's Cox Science Building with the caption "I'm bombing it tomorrow" which led to her immediate arrest.
The threat prompted an investigation by the Coral Gables Police Department who identified and detained the student on Tuesday, according to NBC6, through her IP address that originated from UM's Coral Gables campus.
When the investigators met with Burkly at her Coral Gables apartment, she said, "Not really," in response to their question concerning why they were there, according to the report.
The suspect is now charged with written threats to kill or do bodily harm. Details of Burkly's statement and alleged confession have been redacted from the report.
However, police records obtained by NBC6 (what records) indicated that her bond was set at $3,500 and attorney information was not available at the time of reporting.
