Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred on the University of Arizona campus earlier this week.

Ryan Romero-Encinas, 20, was charged with first-degree murder Wednesday after allegedly shooting and killing Minhaj Jamshidi, a Pima Community College student, during a dispute at the university's volleyball courts late Sunday night, according to the University of Arizona Police Department.

Jamshidi, 19, was originally from Afghanistan, according to a Facebook post by the Islamic Center of Tucson.

According to 13 News, Romero-Encinas had shaved his head after the incident but ultimately turned himself in to police who were searching a Tucson apartment complex.

Romero-Encina was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

The Tucson community mourned the burial of Jamshidi the same day his alleged killer was arrested. Before the funeral, mourners gathered at the Islamic Center of Tucson near the school campus to pray for Jamshidi.
