A man shot and killed a Pima Community College student on the University of Arizona campus late Sunday night, prompting a search for the suspect.

The incident occurred on the volleyball courts near the Arizona-Sonora Hall dorm around 11 p.m., according to police, following an altercation between multiple individuals, which resulted in the suspect shooting the victim.

Instead of taking the victim to the hospital, witnesses allegedly moved him to a car and waited for emergency responders to arrive. Despite efforts by medical personnel and officers to resuscitate the individual, the victim died at the scene.

The suspect fled on foot before law enforcement could arrive, the police report said.
