Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old Arkansas Tech University student following a shooting at an off-campus residence over the weekend.
Jack Poole, a nursing major, died from a gunshot wound at the scene, according to the Russellville Police Department.
Initial findings suggest the shooting was accidental, though the investigation remains ongoing.
"Arkansas Tech University expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Jack Poole," ATU President Dr. Russell Jones said in a statement on Sunday. "There are no words that can adequately bring comfort at a time like this. Our university community will be present and ready to assist in the grieving process for those close to Jack."
