Former El Camino College Student Plummets to His Death After Repeatedly Stabbing Mother on Campus
ByA former El Camino College student is dead and his mother is critically injured after an altercation on campus turned violent, according to the school's police department.
Police responded to a parking lot on campus at approximately 5:20 p.m. on August 9 after receiving several 911 calls warning about a domestic violence situation in the vicinity of Stadium Way and Redondo Beach Boulevard. Police found an unidentified male, unresponsive at the bottom of the parking lot, and the victim's mother seriously injured nearby.
The male, who was a former student at ECC, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the campus police department. The male's mother was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The male victim was involved in a physical altercation with his mother, and after repeatedly assaulting her with a knife, he ran into the parking lot and jumped to his death from the top floor, landing on the sidewalk near the Softball field, police said in an advisory on X.
The names of both victims are being withheld as the LA County Sheriff's Department conduct's it's investigaton.
