The director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute believes that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who was tapped as Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate early Tuesday, is unlikely to significantly influence the upcoming election.

Patrick Murray likened Walz's potential impact to that of Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton's 2016 vice presidential pick, suggesting Walz will be a solid governing partner but won't sway many voters.

"Strong Tim Kaine vibes from this pick. Solid governing partner material but will have no impact on voter choice (as opposed to a best case scenario "minimal bump" with some of the others). You social media bubble people are not who the Harris campaign needs to win this election," Patrick Murray posted on X.

Clinton also weighed in on Walz's selection, expressing her support on the platform.

"I'm thrilled to see Tim Walz join the Democratic ticket. From providing free meals for schoolkids to implementing paid family leave in Minnesota, he's about doing good in all the ways you can. He'll be an incredible partner to our first woman president. Let's go win this," the former secretary of state wrote.

The Monmouth University Poll is rated one of the top polls in the country. No current polls are available to gauge Walz's potential effect on the election.
