Deane Webb Named Head Coach of Bobcats Women's Volleyball Program
ByDeane Webb has been named the 12th head coach of the Bobcats Women's Volleyball program. Webb replaces Ryan Theis, who quit the role at Marquette.
"Deane brings a great deal of head coaching experience. He also brings a great deal of experience coaching in the NCAA tournament. I have full confidence in his ability to continue our winning tradition here at Ohio," Athletics Director Jim Schaus said in a statement.
Webb's last coaching job was at Belmont. In his 11 seasons as head coach, he led Bruins to three conference titles, three NCAA tournaments and first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship.
Under Webb's leadership, 22 Belmont players have been chosen to either first or second team all-conference honors. In 2013, Webb coached Allison McCoy to OVC Player of the Year honors. He also guided three AVCA All-South Region players -- Colleen Nilson (2007), Kayla Albritton (2010) and Maggie Johnson (2011).
In 2010, Webb became the youngest coach in Division I to achieve 300 career victories.
Prior to Belmont, Webb coached at East Tennessee State for two seasons. In the first year, he led Bucs to one of the best seasons in women's volleyball history with an overall record of 20-6. The team finished second in the Southern Conference.
Webb arrived at ETSU from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, where he spent four years as the head coach.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology 1995 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas.
