The number of childbirths in the USA fell in 2018 and has gotten to the lowest level for the past three decades, based on the report provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics. This occurrence is affecting the total population of the country, it also says.

The report indicates that 3,791,712 births were registered in 2018 is 2% lower than in 2017. The total fertility rate or known as the number of children women have overall been 1,729.5 births per 1,000 women aged ranging from15 to 44 in 2018. The birth rate is all about the number of childbirth in just one specific year. The US population by age, on the other hand, is one specific topic just like the US population by race.

According to the report, there should be 2,100 births per 1,000 women for the US to produce a sufficient number of children the next generation and for the population to remain steady.

That reportedly means each woman would need to have two babies in to replace mothers and fathers as well as account for any extra deaths.

The data gathered in the report also states that birth rates for women in their 20s and 30s rapidly decreased.

However, the birth rates increased a little for women in their late 30s and early 40s.

The rate of teenage birth for girls from 15 to 19 years old fell 7%, the report states, going from 18.8 births per 1,000 women in 2017 down to 17.4 births per 1,000 in 2018.

Causes

An increase in Death Rate: Natural disasters of fortuitous events such as earthquakes, storms, flood, etc. will lead to a rise in death rate therefore the country witnesses a decrease in population.

A fall in Birth Rate: When a nation agrees to lessen the number of children for dread of possible overpopulation or any sociopolitical factor which does not favor children, the country may experience under population

High Level of Emigration: A continuous increase in emigration over immigration can result to decreasing number of the country's population.

Positive Effects of Under-Population

No Congestion: A country with less population experiences a little to no people crowding. Be it on the roads or in the supermarket, the chances of experiencing congestion are very low.

Employment Opportunities: As a result of the small number of population, there will be sufficient jobs for the people.

Increased in Social and Infrastructural Facilities: An underpopulated country experiences better progress in terms of social and infrastructural facilities available to the people in the country.

Negative Effects of Under-Population

Lower Standard of Living: Under population leads to lower standard of living as a result of the insufficient labor force that would have appropriately improved the output and production of goods and services

Lack of Adequate Manpower: Under-population results to the scarcity of labor that can lead to a lower-income generation and poor productivity.

Lack of People to Defend the Country: At times of conflict and emergency, a country might find it hard to assemble enough people to defend the nation.
