February is not by any means too early to look for a summer internship, in fact, it is probably the ideal time and you could not do much better than Glassdoor's list of the 25 best companies to intern for.
According to Glassdoor, more than 4,700 companies in the U.S. are hiring interns this month. While many companies compensate their interns with college credits, meals or transportation expenses, some offer fairly lucrative paychecks.
For example, Business Insider reported interns at Facebook make an average of $5,600 a month, citing Galssdoor's data. That equates to roughly $67,000 a year, $25,000 more than the average U.S. citizen makes in their annual salary.
Google held the top spot in 2012 and 2013, but Facebook finally took over in 2014. Interns said the social media giant creates an environment that encourages innovation and perks include free food, on-site laundry and good pay. In addition, interns felt valued by full-time employees and upper management.
"The culture is pretty awesome and has staying power. The intern program is amazing and everyone is actually happy that the interns are there," said a software engineer from Menlo Park, Calif.
"The company culture embraces independence, quick problem solving, strong communication skills. There is a strong work hard, play hard mentality," said a software engineer from Seattle, Wash.
