Microsoft Surface Pro 5 did not make any appearance at the hardware event and the company did not tease anything about its upcoming hybrid device. However, based on what has been revealed, fans can get a few clues about Microsoft's roadmap.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Possible Specs and Release Date

Microsoft unveiled new Surface laptop at its hardware event and it seems to give more hints at what the Surface Pro 5 will look like. The lightweight hybrid could be much better than the iPad Pro.

With the announcement, Microsoft is trying to tell the world that its Surface laptops take on Chromebook Pixel devices. It aims at education sector, which means, the budget laptop will benefit for students and teachers. That said, the Surface laptops are also aiming at Apple fans since the Cupertino giant reportedly gears up for 10.5-inch iPad launch this year - aiming at the same segment.

It is safe to argue that if the hybrid Surface Pro 5 will materialize this year, it will rival the larger iPad Pro 2. Based on the Surface laptop, the $999 device features 13.5-inch PixelSense display and Surface Pen for its screen. According to Panos Panay, the clamshell laptop is relatively faster than the MacBook Pro (Core i7), with longer battery life than MacBook Air, The Verge reported.

The Surface Pro 5 is likely to ship with higher specifications and hinge to turn the laptop into tablet. While the Surface laptop is a viable option for students, the Surface Pro tablet will be particularly useful for the creative pros.

Surface Pro 5 Release Date

Tech experts suggest that Microsoft should unveil the Surface Pro 4 successor soon since the market is getting highly competitive. The Surface Pro 5 release date remains vague but consumers might not wait for too long after the May 2 event, TechNewsGazette reported.
