A red-hot Texas Longhorns (19) team is probably among the last things the Oklahoma State Cowboys would like to see right now.

Oklahoma State will be without leading scorer Marcus Smart after his three-game suspension was handed down from the Big 12. The team has also lost four in a row and five of its last six.

Texas may be coming off a loss to Kansas State, but the Longhorns had won seven in a row before that. A limping Oklahoma State may be the team they need to face to bounce back from the upset loss to Kansas State.

At 4-6 in the Big 12, Oklahoma State will likely need to win all of its last eight games to compete for the conference, but Texas is just one game behind Kansas for the lead. Both teams will play the Jayhawks one more time this season, but Texas is one of only two conference teams to beat the Big 12 leaders.

Tuesday night's game will be the first one for the Cowboys without Smart, who pushed a fan after stumbling into the stands late in Saturday's game against Texas Tech. The fan apologized for instigating Smart, but the sophomore guard acknowledged he should have known better than to act the way he did.

"This is not how I conduct myself," Smart told reporters, according to ESPN. "This is not how the program is run. This is not how I was raised. I let my emotions get the best of me. It's something I'll have to learn from, a lesson I'll have to learn from. The consequences that are coming with it - I'm taking full responsibility. No fingers pointing - this is all upon me."

Texas may be without their leading scorer Jonathan Holmes, who is awaiting MRI results on his knee. The junior forward is averaging 13 points and seven rebounds per game this year and totaled 42 points and 20 rebounds against Kansas and TCU, the last two full games he played.

Saturday's loss to Kansas State frustrated Texas coach Rick Barnes, who said the team's shot selection was discouraging. They will look to bounce back Tuesday night.
