NCAA Rivalry Week 2014: Kansas vs Kansas State Preview/LIVE Radio Broadcast; Jayhawks Try Season Sweep of Wildcats
ByThe NCAA's basketball rivalry week is underway as the Kansas State Wildcats host the Kansas Jayhawks (7) for an in-state rematch.
With their campuses just 25 miles apart, the two teams will play for the second time this year with Kansas winning the first matchup 86-60 on their court. That loss on Jan. 11 snapped Kansas State's 10-game winning streak and was the start of a 4-4 stretch.

Two wins removed from their first Big 12 loss of the season to Texas, Bill Self and his young Kansas team know they need a group effort to win their conference and go deep into the tournament.
He said Frank Mason, Tarik Black and Jamari Traylor were the game MVPs in Saturday's win over West Virginia. Joel Embiid scored 11 points and brought down 12 rebounds, but was in foul trouble. An unrefined talent out of Cameroon, the freshman center is also learning to handle national attention during a breakout season.
Freshman forward Andrew Wiggins also gave the Jayhawks 38 minutes and 19 points, combined with Wayne Selden Jr.'s 17 points. Still, it was the three bench performers that garnered praise from Self.
"If you're going to pick three guys for who's the most valuable player, I would take Frank, Mari and Tarik," Self told reporters, according to ESPN. "They were great in the first half... they were the main reason we had the lead."
Kansas State will look to its own freshman standout Marcus Foster, the team's leading scorer, to lead the way in front of the home crowd. Foster was limited to seven points on Jan. 11 against Kansas, but is coming off a 34-point game in a win over Texas, the Big 12's second-place team.
"The thing that I like is he has gotten a little better about being more patient, waiting for good shots, he is our go-to guy," Kansas State coach Bruce Weber said of his team's leading scorer. "As far as the perimeter, we have got to get him the ball but we need to know that if they are good defensively he has got to give it up."
