The Alabama Crimson Tide did not have a chance to play for the BCS Title and lost the Sugar Bowl, so they set out to win National Signing Day.

Alabama shored up its coach, Nick Saban, for the long haul and have now added 27 new commits, 19 of who rank within ESPN's top 300 recruits. The recruiting class was undoubtedly the best this year and some experts called one of the all-time greats, but Saban was just "satisfied."

"We're excited about today," Saban said at a press conference, according to AL.com. "We're excited to have the opportunity to work with the quality young men we were able to attract here in this recruiting class."

ESPN, Scouts.com, Rivals and 247Sports agreed that Alabama's recruiting class was tops this year. They signed five five-star recruits and only Texas A&M had more than one, signing two.

While the schools with ESPN's top 75 recruiting classes averaged 19 commits outside the top 300, Alabama had 19 from the list of top recruits, as well as 17 four-star commits.

"If you look at Alabama's class, you could argue that it's been the best class that Nick Saban has signed while he's been at Alabama," ESPN National Recruiting Director Tom Luginbill said. "What Alabama's always done such a good job of doing is recruiting to need whether it's a lack of talent or lack of depth and building the football team from the inside out."

While the top-tier quality of recruiting can be expected from Alabama, the big surprise from Signing Day was Tennessee. They lead the SEC with 35 commits, signing 18 four-star recruits and 14 three-star recruits, which outnumbered the likes of Florida State, Auburn and Ohio State.

The consensus second-best recruiting class was LSU, who signed a five-star running back among 22 overall commits. Of their 16 four-star recruits was a quarterback and two wide receivers, so expect LSU to be developing an offense to take on the Crimson Tide defense in the coming years.
