The hype of previous submissions seems to have overwhelmed Elon Musk that another Hyperloop Pod Competition will be held in August this year. The race will take place at SpaceX Hyperloop track on Aug. 25-27, 2017, as announced by the company.
SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Race
New teams will compete with the previous winners in the drag race as the search of the fastest pod begins. For the first few teams who built and tested and failed in the last competition, they will join the new students to create a new concept of a superfast transportation system. In the future, the revolutionary capsule would cut down the time-consuming travel between cities for people and goods.
The second competition - just like the first - the winners are not affiliated with SpaceX directly and the teams come from across the globe to win the challenge. The initial Hyperloop competition was seeking a few factors but the upcoming race is to determine the fastest pod. However, Hyperloop placed safety at the top of the list and it will still apply for the next installment.
The Winners of Hyperloop Pod Competition I
The previous competition has given recognitions to some of the best teams. Technical University of Munich won the fastest pod while Badgerloop brought home best design award as the students created VR setup in it. Netherlands' Delft University of Technology got the highest score among 30 teams, NL Times reported.
SpaceX Hyperloop One
While the competition is a small scale, the real SpaceX Hyperloop One test track, DevLoop, will carry real passengers with 11 potential routes Las Vegas, Chicago, Kansas City, Pittsburgh and more. The company is confident that Hyperloop One will enable a fast transportation, either for people or manufacturers, without traffic congestion and focusing on the commuting time, Fortune reported.
