Dr. Roxanne Gonzales, dean and professor at Regis University, will begin her second chapter at Granite State College, GSC, as the school's fifth president, effective April 28. Gonzales worked as the director of Prior Learning Assessment from 1994 to 2001 at Granite State.
Dr. Gonzales is delighted to lead the brilliant and devoted team at Granite State. She hopes to engage with the sister institutions within the University System and the state's community colleges.
"I am humbled and honored to serve the citizens of New Hampshire....The mission of Granite State aligns perfectly with my belief that access to higher education is essential for learners to achieve personal, professional, and academic goals that ultimately benefit our communities," Dr.Gonzales said in a statement.
At Regis, Gonzales is credited to stabilize deteriorating enrollment rates at Regis's College for Professional Studies through enhanced marketing and retention strategies and also by strengthening relationships with community colleges.
The University System of New Hampshire said that Dr. Gonzales' extensive academic leadership experience makes her the right fit for the role. Todd Leach, university system chancellor, said that Dr. Gonzales knowledge in online higher education will help GSC to become one of the top providers in the region.
"Dr. Gonzales clearly understands how to meet the needs of adult workers who seek to elevate their social mobility," Leach said. We are fortunate to have someone so passionate about higher education access as Dr. Gonzales to continue the important mission of Granite State College."
Leach served as Granite State's president before being chosen as the chancellor by the University System Board of Trustees last summer.
