Google is reportedly making a million dollar investment in LG Display to produce the OLED panel for Google Pixel 2. The new design will make the upcoming handset, an impressive Android phone.

According to a few media outlets, the strategic investment is to equip Google with more alternative display suppliers for its future handsets. That said, fans will see the next Pixel sporting a curved screen just like the rumored Galaxy S8. While both parties refused to comment, the leak confirmed that the $875 million investment is not a deal yet as LG is still considering the contract, Tech Crunch reported.

Specs-wise, if the rumor comes to fruition, Google Pixel 2 will have a dramatic change from the predecessor. A curved display and a brand new Snapdragon chip are among the expected features. To put everything into perspective, the current Pixel has a flat screen design and now it is lacking of an exclusive feature since Google Assistant arrived to its older siblings.

Gathering all of the leaks, somehow, they guarantee that the upcoming Google Pixel 2 will be an impressive device. For instance, the 835 chip series is the fastest to date and the dual camera module will let Google speeds up to be at the same level as the iPhone 7.

The optics in Google Pixel 2 will be particularly useful to capture in low-light condition. Google seems to make the next Pixel still, a camera-focused phone without having to equip it with huge pixels amount, Expert Reviews reported.

The next Pixel will be a big thing for Google. The company which introduced Android operating system to the mobile world, is now getting closer to Samsung and Apple position in the industry. Google Pixel 2 is expected in October 2017, if the company uses the same pattern like last year. There is no word on the pricepoint but with the new OLED display and advanced hardware, the Pixel successor could be at least $50 more expensive. However, fans should not be worried as Google is reportedly working on a budget Pixel 2 device as an affordable alternative.
