Reports about the highly anticipated Microsoft Surface Phone are still mounting up on the internet. The recently surfaced patent filing of Microsoft has reportedly appeared to be an evidence of Surface Phone's imminent release.

Recent reports are claiming that the new patent filing of the Microsoft Surface Phone that was posted by Free Patents Online pertains to a brand-new type of multi-layered handset display. The Microsoft patent could indicate the Surface Phone will be announced by the tech company soon.

The curved edges that are featured in the patent are designed to prevent the light that will pass through the gaps. This design will reportedly help the Microsoft Surface Phone to feature one continuous image in the display. The patented design will clear up one of the biggest issues spotted in devices that come along with hinged displays, Express reported.

Nevertheless, some reports are claiming that Microsoft's latest patent is likely for a tablet design and not the much-awaited Surface Phone. The patent is intended for the new e-paper Surface device or for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. As the e-paper side of the dual display will be removable, touched sensitive and could function as a cover, this could indicate that the patent is not for a handset but more for a tablet, Trusted Reviews reported.

In spite of that, the Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to be released with a price tag that ranges from $699 up to $1,100. It has been said that the upcoming Surface Phone will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor along with a 5.7-inch display.

Furthermore, the Microsoft Surface Phone is said to be available in three variants, starting from the 3GB of RAM and a 32GB of internal storage variant. The second version of the Surface Phone will have a 6GB of RAM with a 128GB storage, and the third model will boast an 8GB of RAM and a 500GB of internal storage.
