I've been underestimating #20 Creighton (17-3, 6-1) all season (and have been burned). So, probably, have the pollsters, as they're ranked just 20 despite their rather impressive record and Wooden Award lock, Douglas McDermott. I'm going to do it tonight again anyway against a semi-hot St. Johns team (12-8, 2-5).

Most likely, the Blue Jays will win tonight's game (9:00 pm EST, Fox Sports 1). But St. John's is talented enough and playing well enough to keep it close, or within the 12.5 point spread. As usual, the Red Storm lack shooting and an offensive touch (and a winning touch), but, also as usual, they don't lack for athleticism and effort. That will likely make them a better match up than Villanova (who lost by 30 a few weeks ago), a team more athletically inclined on the offensive end as of late than defensively.

Like most teams, however, St. John's will have trouble with the nation's second leading scorer, Doug McDermott (24.3 ppg). Similar to Villanova's big men, St. Johns' are athletic, but not entirely comfortable extending to the three point line (as is the case with most collegiate 4's and 5's). Perhaps second leading scorer, 6-foot-7 sophomore Jakarr Sampson, will provide a suitable matchup.

Hopefully for my pick's sake, St. John's watches tape of the Villanova game. Creighton has a somewhat querky offense and an arsenal of players capable of hitting three's. They're also bold, unafraid to snap a deep three, but willing to advance all the way to the basket. Their main weakness is St. John's strength: size and athleticism. The Red Storm will get their looks, but will they hit them? So far this season, they haven't been hitting enough.
