Google Maps has added a new feature which enables car owners to locate their cars easily in a parking area in case they forgot the exact location where they parked them. It is similar to Apple Maps but a more beefed up one.

The new Google Maps feature can be seen as a new menu option represented by a blue dot on the screen. All users have to do is tap the blue dot and place a "P" icon where they parked their car so that they can easily trace back the spot.

The new feature is manually done but is is considered an advantage considering the previous parking feature on Google Now which sometimes appeared unwarranted. With the new feature, however, because it allows users to input more information about their location. That means users can write notes about important markers, such as restaurants and street names, to help them remember the location.

Not only can they add notes but the new Google Maps feature also supports pictures and images. Therefore, they can take pictures of what section or area they are in as well as which floor, level, or aisle they parked their cars. This saves them time and frees them from anxiety wondering where the exact same spot is.

Aside from the important markers, users can also add information how long they need to park in that spot. Once they input the information, a timer is displayed to tell them exactly how much time they have left for the metered or paid parking space.

According to Android Police, this Google Maps feature is especially helpful in cities where parking space is limited and people have to park their cars far from where they work, or if they leave their cars for a long time at the airport.
