The Michigan State Spartans (3) should be favored to win at home against the Indiana Hoosiers, but it is exactly one week ago the latter defeated a team in the former's position.

One week ago Tuesday, the Hoosiers upset Wisconsin, ranked third overall at the time, in Indiana. However, their very next game was a loss to a Northwestern team with nine wins on the season, also at home.

Michigan State opened the season winning seven in a row before suffering their one and only loss of the season to UNC. They are currently on a 10-game winning streak thanks to a stingy defense that has allowed 63.8 points per game this season.

On offense, Michigan State distributes the ball well, averaging 18 assists per game and three players with at least 16 points per game.

Yogi Ferrell, Indiana's leading scorer, is averaging 17 points per game and has seven double-doubles, the most in the Big Ten. Indiana coach Tom Crean said the team can play with great confidence at times, but needs to become consistent.

"We have a long way to go, and I can't just put it on youth because obviously some of the younger guys didn't play up to their capabilities," Crean told reporters, according to ESPN. "We didn't have some of the older guys playing as well. As a team we did not have the hunger that you need to play with on a daily basis be where it needed to be. Northwestern did."

Indiana will have to do its best to contain Gary Harris, Adreian Payne and Keith Appling, Michigan State's leading scorers, while getting a big performance from Ferrell. The Indiana offense may have tough time breaking through a defense that has allowed 60 points per game and 37 percent field goal shooting during their 10-game streak.

"We're getting there," Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. "We're gutting things out. We're better defensively than we were a month ago. We're better rebounding than we were a month ago."
