Next season will begin the new era of the College Football Playoff (CFP) and getting the chance to see the title game will be costly.
According to ESPN, two ticket and hospitality vendors chosen by the CFB posted their premium package prices and the cheapest one came to $1,889. For just under $2,000, a customer can sit in the corner of Arlington, Texas' AT&T Stadium's upper level with access to a pregame hospitality event, a full menu, a top-shelf bar and a $50 merchandise voucher.
For $3,889, customers can sit in a suite between the 20-yardlines, have the same amenities, plus a gift bag and post-game access to the field. For $5,000, customers can also include a three-night stay at a premium Dallas hotel.
For the last National Championship game in the BCS era, tickets went for about $350, but the CFP ticket prices have to be announced. The Rose Bowl game tickets went for about $150 at the cheapest and the Sugar Bowl cost about $200 to attend.
The CFP organizers announced last week that a random drawing of 500 fans who submit their names between Jan. 13 and March 1 will have the first chance to buy tickets a two apiece.
The face value for the title game, as well as the two semifinal games, has not been determined. The two semifinal games will take place on Jan. 1, 2015 in the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl stadiums. The title game will be Jan. 15, 2014 in the home of the Dallas Cowboys, Arlington, Texas' AT&T Stadium.
In the first post-BCS college football season, a CFP selection committee will select four teams to play for the title, based on their own criteria. The group will also meet intermittently throughout the season.
