Amazon Alexa is now directly available to iPhone users. Alarmingly, the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) could be wire-tapping your devices.
Previously, Amazon Alexa has been made available to iPhone users via different third-party apps. It was also originally limited to its Echo speaker only. Well, people could now easily order using the AI, but CIA might just be right around the corner.
Amazon Alexa possible CIA spy
The Daily Mail reported that the newest Amazon Alexa app is now downloadable for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. However, the same source added that some speculate that the virtual assistant may be capable of doing more things than just listening and responding to voice commands. Could it be one of the CIA moles?
For one thing, a controversial clip of an unidentified woman asking Amazon Alexa surfaced online. Her first query was "Would you lie to me?" She then finished with "Are you connected to the CIA?"
Amazon Alexa responded to the first question with "I always try to tell the truth. I am not always right, but I would never intentionally lie to you or anyone else." However, the digital assistant suddenly turned off when interrogated about its connection to CIA. Amazon earlier labeled the weird incident as a regular technical glitch. Alexa's answer should have been "No, I work for Amazon."
While Amazon Alexa could have misunderstood the question, its reply should have been "Sorry, I can't find an answer to the question I heard." Thus, the shutdown was really intriguing. It is important to note too that the video clip was released a few days after WikiLeaks exposed that CIA uses phones, PCs, and TVs as hacking devices.
Amazon Alexa & iPhone benefits
On a lighter note, iPhone owners get the chance to use Amazon Alexa to play songs from Music Unlimited or Prime Music. Consequently, they could open Kindle books with an all-new built-in media player. According to IGN, iPhone fans may tap into the other skills of Amazon Alexa as well.
Well, owners of iPhone could use Amazon Alexa for searching news. Weather and traffic information are also available alongside Smart Home features. They could set these skills on the Alexa app or on alexa.amazon.com. The update for Apple iPhone will reach all users in the United States until next week.
