The Huawei P10's camera undoubtedly performs well. It's great for taking photos and videos indoors and even in low-light environments. The smartphone's camera, however, isn't as great as its biggest rivals.

The handset is equipped with the new Leica Dual Camera 2.0 feature, which is capable of 3D facial detection and delivering illumination and enhancements to images. The 12 MP front camera is great on shooting in low light because of its ability to receive twice more light. There's still noise in the images, but they're hardly distracting.

As expected, the Huawei P10 performs great outdoors too both in pictures and videos. But SlashGear pointed out that there are "some inconsistencies in color and exposure," specifically in a sight's darker and underexposed areas. Luminance noise was also seen regardless of the lighting condition.

DxOMark, DxO Labs' image quality rating website, gave the Huawei P10 a score of 88 for photographs and 84 for videos. Those ratings are not bad compared to the highest scores given to the Google Pixel -- 89 and 88, respectively

The Pixel's 12.3 MP main camera may seem inferior to the Huawei P10's 20 MP, but DxOMark's ratings prove that not everything about a camera relies on its megapixel count. Google's Pixel phone is more than capable of delivering brighter and sharper colors even for backgrounds. In this aspect, it doesn't just beat the Huawei P10; it also trumps Apple's iPhone 7.

Keep in mind, however, that DxOMark only reviewed the Huawei P10's SUMMARIT-H camera lens (the same lens used in Huawei P9). The Huawei P10 Plus has the newer and better SUMMILUX-H lens.

The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus come with a lot of color variations: Ceramic White, Dazzling Blue, Dazzling Gold, Prestige Gold, Graphite Black, Mystic Silver, Rose Gold and Greenery models. Huawei worked with the Pantone Colour Institute for the Dazzling Blue and Greenery models.

All of the device's colors look pretty, but the Dazzling Blue and Greenery models seem to stand out the most. The Dazzling Blue variant has a Hyper Diamond Cut finish, which provides a matte feel to the phone and deters fingerprint smudges.

The yellow-based Greenery, meanwhile, bears 2017's color of the year. It represents people's desire to immerse and restore themselves into the world's natural beauty.

As for the hardware, the Huawei P10 runs smoothly thanks to its octa-core Kirin 960 chipset. Its 4 GB RAM is also great for multitasking.
