Three people, including the alleged gunman, are dead after a shooting at an Indiana grocery store late Wednesday night, ABC News reported.

Shawn Bair, 22, allegedly shot and killed two women in a Martin's Supermarket in Elkhart, Ind. and was allegedly pointing a gun at the head on another person, believed to be a store employee, when police tracked down and killed him, ABC News reported.

"It's a huge crime scene," State Police Sgt. Trent Smith told ABC News. "The areas where the shootings happened in the store are basically from one end of the store to the next. There were several rounds fired in there."

Bair used a .40 caliber semi-automatic to kill a 20-year-old female that police identified as an employee of the supermarket, and a 44-year-old woman presumed to be a patron of the store. The man also was armed with a large hunting knife.

In a prepared statement, Indiana State Police said they received a call about a gunman at the supermarket at around 10 p.m. The first two officers to arrive at the scene confronted the armed man. Smith told the Associated Press that the two officers heard a gunshot as they entered the store and saw the shooter pointing a gun at a third person. He said the man then aimed the gun at the officers and that's when they shot and killed him.

Fox28.com reported that police believe Bair entered the store and walked around the store for about 30 minutes before opening fire. Bair was reportedly known to the employees of the store. He had shopped at the store many times, but he was not known by name.

Police told ABC News that they are hopeful that surveillance video will help them with their investigation.

"We do have a lot of things to look at as far as video surveillance," Smith said.

Martin's released a statement on Facebook around 12:25 a.m., saying, "Thank you to our community for your thoughts and prayers tonight. We will comment further when we can do so responsibly and appropriately."

The police are still investigating the shooting and putting together search warrants.
