Chevrolet Confirms Chevy Camaro To Get A New Look, Something Powerful & With Lots Of Muscles On Board
ByThe American auto giant Chevrolet is getting another new car for this week. The Michigan-based automaker is now getting ready for the upcoming big reveal of its big green track-ready Camaro at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show later this week. The company has already released few teaser shots on Facebook, showing off a new Camaro variant for the European market.
According to Autoblog, Chevy is getting ready for the big reveal of its big green Camaro Track concept at the Geneva Motor Show this week. The Chevy Camaro Track Concept, which said to be based on the Camaro SS 1LE, combines the qualities of a fast sports coupe with the high-performance features for track use on weekends, Chevrolet claimed in a press release.
Partially revealed in the newly released teaser shots, the Chevy Camaro Track concept feature a special custom green paint job fitted with a front lip spoiler, sporty side sills, and 20-inch wheels with wider tires. To further improve performance and stability, the company made some significant changes to the chassis, lowering Chevy's center of gravity by around 30 mm.
Inside the Chevy Camaro Track, it features a suede flat-bottomed steering wheel along with the center console armrest, suede knee pads, Recaro bucket seats and aluminum pedals. Chevy engineers also fitted the new muscle car with side skirts, front splitter, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. The Michigan-based company has also fitted the new car with black bow-ties and smoked taillights. Most of the accessories used on this car are US-exclusive, according to Chevrolet, but some of them will be made available in Europe in the next couple of months.
Powering this new Camaro muscle car is a 6.2-liter V8 engine, which produces 446 HP and 455 lb-ft of torque. It features an 8-speed automatic transmission, a dual-mode performance exhaust, Brembo six-piston performance brakes, 8-speed automatic transmission, and Magnetic Ride suspension. All four wheels will be Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires, Motor Trend reported.
For improved cornering capability, the new muscle car boasts a fully upgraded FE4 suspension (which is lowered by 1.18 inches), along with the ZL1 with magnetic shocks, additional engine, differential coolers, and transmission. All of these features are said to be specifically tuned for the newly upgraded springs, stabilizer bars, and magnetic dampers. In addition to the FE4 suspension, the new muscle car also gets the SS 1LE's electronically-controlled limited slip differential, that is said to be segment-exclusive.
Unfortunately, the automaker hasn't revealed much information about the new muscle car. The crowd might get more details about the new muscle car at the Geneva Motor Show this week, in which the car will be joining Chevy's other muscle cars, which include the Corvette Grand Sport, the Corvette Z06, and a stock Camaro SS.
