Samsung Galaxy S6 Reportedly Not Included in Android Nougat Update; Handsets Will Be Updated to Android 8 Instead
ByThe delays in rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat to Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets made the netizens speculate that Samsung has no plans to bring the latest OS to the most popular Samsung handsets. Another report claims that Samsung will bring the purported Android 8.0 to the handsets instead.
Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners are hoping to get the taste of Nougat to their smartphones supposedly at the end of February. However, Samsung has reportedly announced that the rolling out of the OS will be delayed due to quality issues that need to be reviewed, Android Authority reported.
The announcement was posted in the Twitter account of Samsung UK where details about the new time frame has never been clarified except by saying "will be made available at the earliest opportunity". For this matter, Galaxy S6 handsets users began to speculate that Samsung might not be able to bring Nougat anytime soon.
For most of the major Android users, the delays have seriously caused pain to all Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users most especially when Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge owners are now enjoying the features of Android 7.0 Nougat. Millions of Galaxy S6 users are accounted for not upgrading their smartphones since laying their hands to the device that is known for killer performance and beautiful displays, BGR reported.
The delay is reportedly timely for speculations that Samsung is preparing Galaxy S6 handsets for Android 8.0 or presumed as "Oreo". The new Android version is expected to debut during the Google I/O event happening in August this year.
On the other hand, another wild speculation suggests that Samsung might bring Android 7.0 Nougat to Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in the next two years. By then, Android 9 should be out in the market while Android Nougat is heading towards phasing out.
