Unlike previous years, the 2017 Geneva Auto Show will feature fewer eco cars. Nonetheless, 700,000 visitors are still expected to cross the floors of the Palexpo convention center on March 9.
Out of the limited choices this year, here are the Top 3 nature-friendly vehicles that would roll out at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show. The list includes the 2018 Ford Fiesta and the Lexus LS 500h. Moreover, one Asian prototype gains huge attention as well.
2017 Geneva Auto Show: 2018 Ford Fiesta & Lexus Ls 500h
According to Green Car Reports, the all-new Ford Fiesta subcompact debuts at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show. However, the concept was actually unveiled as early as December. It retains the iconic 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine.
A tweaked dashboard with a huge central touchscreen can be seen inside. Upon its arrival at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show, four trim lines would be launched for the 2018 Ford Fiesta. These are the Titanium, ST Line, Vignale, and Active variants. The brand is expected to retail in Europe this year, but Ford has not confirmed whether it will come to the US.
Meanwhile, the LS 500h sports a "Multi-Stage Hybrid System" patterned from the powertrain of the LC 500h coupe. The setup combines the traditional 3.5-liter V6 engine with a four-speed automatic transmission. Apparently, Lexus wants to bring a sportier feel with to the 2017 Geneva Auto Show.
For the record, the LS 500h eco car may not retail until next year. Per the same source, it is because the non-hybrid LS 500 still has to make its arrival later in 2017. The 2017 Geneva Auto Show will end on March 19.
Asian prototype joins the 2017 Geneva Auto Show
Per the Auto Blog, the Italian design house Pininfarina closed a $68 million deal with Hong Kong-based Hybrid Kinetic Group. The partnership will make way for the H600 electric car prototype set to be unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show. It will run a "micro turbine electric generator" for longer range.
The H600 is dubbed to be a potential competition for Tesla. After the 2017 Geneva Auto Show, the 46-month deal will start its operations. Hybrid Kinetic is currently focusing on building electric motor batteries and unique electric buses.
