"Destiny 2" is a total reset of weapons and gears from the first game. Only the looks of the characters stay the same, according to Bungie.

In September, Bungie already hinted about the complete refresh for "Destiny 2". The game developer teased about the new worlds to explore, new stories to tell, and new powers to acquire. For the record, the old currencies and items will not be carried over to the next world.

Bungie deal: 'Destiny 2' heroes

Per Forbes, as long as your old characters reached level 20 and have finished the final mission in "Destiny" (The Black Garden), Bungie will transfer them over. Also, to acknowledge the achievements of previous players, "honors" are will be awarded in "Destiny 2". Unfortunately, all acquired levels, unlocked skills, money, armors, and weapons would be dropped.

Bungie originally said it will retain the characters for an entire decade. Nevertheless, most fans do not argue much because they also know it is time for something fresh. Besides, "Destiny 2" will not change the class, gender, face, and marking selections of the long-time characters.

Apparently, it would be impossible for Bungie to integrate hundreds of existing weapons and armors into the new system and still maintain balance. By starting over again, the firm aims to correct mistakes and introduce a different journey in "Destiny 2". Thus, the total reset is a very understandable decision.

'Destiny 2': Bungie moves on

"We believe this is the best path forward," Bungie said. "Destiny 2" has been dubbed as the best game ever created by the tech company. It later vowed to release more details on how to honor the legacy of "Destiny 1" in the coming weeks.

According to Engadget, Bungie is actually sending off the original variant with one last event. It will be called the Age of Triumph. The last hurrah before "Destiny 2" happens on March 8. Event rituals will happen on March 15 too while a sandbox update takes place on the 22nd.
