OnePlus is slowly advancing in the Nougat game on its devices after rolling out its Open Beta update based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.

According to XDA Developers, the said ROM update comes with many Gallery-related improvements. In the OnePlus wallpaper option, users can change wallpapers automatically on a daily basis. Another feature added is the watermark and photo straightening options included in the Gallery.

More updates include highlighting of newly added photos, location display while in grid view, grouping media by time, and adding the ability to hide folders or individual media, Phone Arena reported.

Aside from the mentioned upgrades, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat brings improved touch latency, keyboard GIF insertion, and app shortcuts in the launcher on the OnePlus 3 and 3T devices. The OnePlus update also adds a hidden section called the "OnePlus Laboratory," where the users can fine tune the notifications in the section called "Power notification controls."

According to OnePlus, the latest ROM update also adds bug fixes on compatibility issues with some third party application. Before the update, the Android Pay issues on some London TFL/Tube (Transport For London) is broken, which should be resolved by updating the app in Google Play Store.

Users of the said OnePlus devices should receive the new Android 7.1.1 Nougat based on OxygenOS OTA update if they are already in the Open Beta program. For the non-participating users, they will have to flash the new update by ADB sideload. Switching to Open Beta OTAs, however, will enable users to no longer receive any official OTA updates.

Earlier this January, OnePlus has released its stable OxygenOS 4.0.3 for OnePlus 3 and 3T. The changelog includes better shelf customization, new notifications and settings design, multi-window view, support for a direct reply of notifications, custom DPI support, and the ability to choose status bar icons. This update also makes Quick Launch available to third-party apps.

Open Beta series from OnePlus is a beta program wherein users experience an open catalog for the operating system. It is where they will feed comments in terms of bugs and issues for the developers in order to fix it before a stable version for all the users is released.
