The legendary Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo celebrates its world premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Five variants are expected to be showcased.
From a technological perspective, the Porsche Panamera makes another profound statement in the luxury car segment. The Panamera 4, Panamera 4S, Panamera 4S Diesel, Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, and the Panamera Turbo reportedly retained the trademark features of a Porsche. For example, the Advanced Cockpit and the Dynamic Chassis Control are still seen in the new models.
Porsche Panamera: Bigger
The Sport Turismo measures 5,049 millimeters (mm) long, 1,428 mm high and 1,937 mm wide. Its wheels, meanwhile, measure up to 21 inches. According to Business Insider, it is the first Porsche Panamera to have enough room for five passengers.
Moreover, the Porsche Panamera sports a big rear, providing more compartment space. Above the pronounced shoulder, an elongated window line and extended roof contour give a striking appearance. At the back, the roof drops less dramatically than the window line, resulting in a coupe-like appearance.
Bolder Porsche Panamera
Five roaring engines are expected to arrive later this year. The European market launches the Porsche Panamera on Oct 7. Others follow immediately sometime in November.
To start with, the Panamera 4 runs a 243 kilowatt (kW)/330 horsepower (hp) twin-turbo V6 engine. Consequently, the 4 E-Hybrid (340kW/462hp); 4S Sport (324kW/440hp); and 4S Diesel (310kW/422hp) use the same twin-turbo V6 engine. Only the Turbo Sport (404kW/550hp) utilized the renowned V8.
According to Net Car Show, prices in Germany start at 97,557 euros for the Porsche Panamera 4. The 4-E Hybrid retails for 112,075 euros while the 4S Sport and the 4S Diesel sells for over 120,000 euros. Lastly, the Turbo Sport hits the market for a whopping 158,604 euros.
Adaptive spoiler - Better performance
Net Car Show also reported that the adaptive roof spoiler installed in the Porsche Panamera generates an additional downforce of up to 50kg. With speeds of 170 kilometers per hour (km/h), the aerodynamic guide element stays at an angle of minus seven degrees. It reduces the drag and optimizes the car's fuel consumption.
However, when the Porsche Panamera starts traveling over 170km/h, the spoiler automatically moves to the performance position with an angle of plus one degree. This setup increases the driving stability and lateral dynamics of the vehicle. Also, when in Sport and Sport Plus modes, the roof spoiler adjusts to the performance position at speeds of 90km/h. It even angles to plus 26 degress when the panoramic sliding rood is open to minimize wind noise.
