Nintendo Switch has been lauded for its innovative design in bringing a compact, portable console to live. Surprisingly, Phil Spencer of Xbox agreed to the claim. The head of Xbox said that the company has a great relationship with Nintendo and specifically admired how Nintendo designed its handheld console.
Could Microsoft consider a hybrid Xbox?
The rivalry between Nintendo and Microsoft has long been known but Switch seems to have a distinct feature that Xbox doesn't own - the hybrid feature.
The revolutionary console allows a player to use it to play at home or take it on the go. It has a clean software and stylish outer appearance. On the other hand, the Xbox fans haven't seen anything like it from the maker. Many have hoped that Xbox will launch a console flagship to take on Switch.
While Microsoft doesn't reveal any specific plan in launching a portable Xbox, Spencer said that the company always watches to see what is going on and what will happen, IGN reported.
This surely doesn't corroborate with the commentary from former Xbox boss, Robbie Bach, who said 'No' for a dedicated portable handset - simply because, handheld device belongs to smartphone market, Geekwire reported.
Currently, Xbox players use iOS and Android platforms to play games and connect with peers. It does give a huge advantage for the brand if ever Xbox will go 'mobile'.
Microsoft Xbox at E3 2017
It is obvious that there will be no Xbox portable console in the near future. This June, the company will be busy focusing on Xbox Scorpio unveiling at E3 2017 in a much smaller booth than Nintendo's giant floorspace. Microsoft hasn't revealed any keynote for the biggest game show but Spencer promised that it will not only be about the hardware. Hopefully, it will come as a great surprise for the fanboys.
