The developers from the game "Ark: Survival Evolved" now welcome 15 modders into their realm for $4,000 a month. Not only that, their outputs will be adopted as an official DLC. Here's how part-time modders can apply.

Valve and Bethesda has introduced the concept of paid mods system in 2015 and dissolved it a week after. There were several reasons for the discontinuation. This time around, Studio Wildcard, the developer behind "Ark: Survival Evolved", are hoping to do it right and expand the good mods into another month for modders who have excellent contributions and will pay them $4,000 a month.

Interested modders nay apply for the next month as the first batch of 15 modders were already selected. Modders can create and distribute their mods through the editable maps and blueprint classes of "Ark: Survival Evolved." With the power of the Blueprint system of Unreal Engine 4, modders can help improve the game's functionality, including the weapons, AI behavior trees, gameplay, and game logic, Play Ark reported, even without C++ game source code.

Interested modders can obtain the ARK Dev Kit, sign-up, download Unreal Engine 4, and proceed to the Ark tab. They can then upload their mods directly to the Steam Workshop for the "Ark: Survival Evolved" players to download and have fun playing.

"Ark: Survival Evolved" main designer, Jeremy Steiglitz says that while their idea is not entirely new, the sponsored mod program is something that the gaming industry lacks. It gives an opportunity for hobbyist modders and at the same time bridges their concepts towards professional game developers, PC Gamer reported.

Steiglitz is also confident that once they got the process going, "Ark: Survival Evolved" will be community-driven. That means the Ark community can eventually vote and choose what they want to be included in the game that they enjoy playing. Steiglitz, however, added that the votes will be chosen discretely by Cedric Burkes - a modder whose mod was adopted and made into a DLC.
