Porsche Design launches Book One, the laptop that tech gurus compare so much with Surface Book. It's a convertible 2-in-1 laptop that the high-end automobile manufacturer has created. The price tag too, is as what anyone can expect from the German automobile company that creates luxury cars - hefty.

Book One has a price tag comparable with Microsoft's Surface Book and Apple's MacBook Pro. But at $2,495, Book One brings itself out of the comparable category by using a technology borrowed from Porsche automotive. While it's a product of a luxury brand, the reason why it's so expensive is not because of its German high-end name, but of its genius.

Roland Heller, Book One's chief design officer, says the laptop is the very first in the market to have a detachable keyboard that's capable to rotate 360°, The Register UK reported. That means the device can be a tablet as users can fold the screen under the keyboard when the need sees fit. Because it's made by Porsche, users can expect mastership in functionality; regardless of the manner of folding the screen, it will always fit seamlessly with the keyboard.

Book One uses the cog wheel hinge design used in Porsche cars. It's the reason why users can rotate the screens smoothly. The cog wheel technology looks exactly like it's something out of a gear box and is the exact reason why it costs north of two grand.

Book One is designed in Germany, but manufactured by Quanta Computing in Taiwan. It runs on Windows 10 Pro, The Verge reported, but is Microsoft Signature Edition-configured to function crapware-free.

It has 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. It has two USB C ports and two USB 3.0 ports. The USB C ports can support ThunderBolt 3. It also has 5MP front camera and an infrared camera for Windows Hello face recognition technology.

The battery life will last up to 14 hours, except when it's used as a tablet. Charging Book One will only take two hours. A Wacom stylus will also come out of the box and it will be magnetically attached to the edge of Book One.
