The Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are expected to hit the global market this March. What is the difference between these two budget smartphones?

Reportedly, the G series is the best-selling handset under Moto's brand. The Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are believed to have undergone complete overhaul on a premium metal finish. They basically look like the Moto Z family now rather than their predecessors.

Moto G5 & Moto G5 Plus: Which is more powerful?

Trusted Reviews reported that the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus do differ in some aspects but not too much. For example, the G5 has 2GB of RAM and the G5 Plus has 3GB. Also, the former runs a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 processor, compared to the other's 2GHz Snapdragon 625.

In terms of internal storage, the Moto G5 Plus has 32GB while the regular Moto G5 gets an equally decent 16GB. Meanwhile, the non-Plus variant is powered by a 2,800mAh battery.Well, the higher end handset thrives with a 3,000mAh power supply.

The Moto G5 boasts four hours of charging time in 15 minutes. The Moto G5 Plus features a faster six-hour speed. Probably, their biggest difference is the camera. The standard version showcases a 13MP f/2.0 rear cam but the Plus model has a 12MP sensor with "Dual Autofocus Pixels".

Basically, the Moto G5 Plus uses 10 times more pixels on the sensor to focus on subjects. It is then backed up by a f/1.7 aperture which can shoot videos in 4K. The Moto G5 is limited to capturing Full HD clips.

Design & Software: Moto G5 vs Moto G5 Plus

According to The Verge, the Moto G5 comes with a 5" LCD display while the Moto G5 Plus offers a larger 5.2" screen. Both handsets include the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. Additionally, the company has installed Google Assistant in the new devices to allow sending messages and making calls just by holding the Home button.

In front, the designs are very similar. The Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are covered in a simple black bezel, silver trim on the speaker, and the Moto logo at the top. At the back, the Plus model displays a circular camera enclosure. The standard version's camera is sunken into the body. Aside from that, they feature headphone jacks, microSD slots, and micro USB chargers.

The Moto G5 retails for as low as £169. Meanwhile, the Moto G5 Plus sells for £259. The prices were confirmed by Miles Norman, Motorola UK General Manager.
