Iconic Nokia 3310 May Re-Launch In MWC For Users Needing A Second Phone Or Those Feeling Nostalgic
ByThe iconic Nokia 3310 may be re-launched by HMD Global in the Mobile World Congress this coming Sunday. Finland's "unbreakable" phone will get a modern rendition and specially marketed for users in need of a second phone or for those feeling nostalgic. The 3310 was a class of its own, fusing simplicity, durability, and usability all in one. This is why news of its possible re-launch has kept fans abuzz hoping to see the comeback of the beloved phone.
There are now new reports that the beloved Nokia 3310 will get a major refresh in hardware and software. All these will be unveiled at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Spain this Sunday. There were no confirmed reports as to what smart features it will have or the kind of hardware boost it will get. However, tipster Evan Blass revealed that it will be a $60 phone that is intended for people looking for another device to complement their primary phone.
A new video has been released by Concept Creators on what consumers may expect in the modernized Nokia 3310. It will feature a 1.5-inch color screen, which is a big leap from its monochromatic pixilated display. It could also have a rear-facing camera, which is a first for the device. Battery life will also be revamped with 1650mAh capacity and internal memory boosted at 8GB of RAM.
More importantly, it would retain its original design albeit with newer and classier finish, Express Online reported. However, there are reports that say HMD Global have completely altered its look and now going for an oval shape. Though there is no credence to such claims, Nokia 3310 fans will be disappointed.
The Nokia 3310 was launched twenty years ago to be the successor of the equally popular Nokia 3210. It soon became an instant favorite because of its new features. It had screensavers, vibration mode, and the pre-installed Snake II game, which fans hope will also make a comeback along with the phone. Add to that a customizable look since its back covers can be interchanged to any color or design chosen by the users.
It was no surprise that a total of 126 million phones were sold globally. However, the true features of the Nokia 3310 that users love begins in its simplicity for it was an easy to use phone and lightweight too at only 133 grams. It also ranked high in battery life with as much as 245 hours on standby at only 900mAh battery capacity. Last but not the least, it was a sure winner in durability that it even earned a Finnish emoji carrying the title of "unbreakable," HillCountryTimes has learned.
Nokia in MWC 2017 may also bring its new flagship product, the Nokia P1, along with the other Nokia products for varying price segments. The Nokia 6 now available in China is expected to be unveiled along with the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 8.The Finnish company will be holding its MWC press conference on Sunday at 4 p.m. or 3 p.m. GMT.
