The new WhatsApp Update mimics Snapchat's "Stories" feature which allows users to upload videos, place emojis, and draw over media posts.
Similar to WhatsApp messages, the "Status" function is end-to-end encrypted. This means that no one, not even WhatsApp itself, can see the posts unless you let them. Apparently, they disappear after 24 hours too. The WhatsApp Update rolls out until Friday.
WhatsApp Update: How to add status?
According to Metro, the WhatsApp Update changes the way we use the popular smartphone freeware. It now permits people to scroll through content like Instagram instead of just replying to messages. All they need to do is to open WhatsApp and tap on their Status screens.
Next, users have to click the rounded icon with a plus sign on the top-left corner. In it, they can take a new photo, record a video, or upload an existing file from their phone's galleries. In addition, WhatsApp Update enables fans to decorate their chosen media with emojis, texts, and even doodles.
Nevertheless, it is important to note that iPhone enthusiasts need to hit first on the blue Send button. For their part, Android users should click the Send key that looks like a paper airplane inside a circle. WhatsApp Update has been available to selected handsets since Tuesday.
Emojis, texts & doodles all present in the WhatsApp Update
Tom's Guide reported that in order to add emojis in images and videos, an emoji button above the screen needs to be tapped. WhatsApp Update fans should then pick their desired icon and drag it over to where they want it to appear. Additionally, they can either resize or rotate the emoji to accommodate the size of the photo or clip.
On the other hand, people have to hit the "T" button to enter a text. WhatsApp Update also offers fans the chance to change the font color via the color selector found at the right side of the screen. Lastly, to replace the font style, users need to drag their fingers from the color selector once more towards the left side.
Meanwhile, freehand drawings or doodles come through the pencil icon. Again, people should drag their fingers from the hue selector to choose a font color. Basically, they have to use their fingertips as pencils and draw whatever shape they want. For the record, WhatsApp Update completes its installation in time for the software's 8th anniversary.
