It looks like a new Samsung Gear VR launches with the Galaxy S8 next month. It features a special controller that works like Google's Daydream View headset.
A recent leak from renowned tipster Roland Quandt unveils that the next flagship phone might debut on March 29. The highly anticipated Samsung Gear VR can also hold the Galaxy S8+. Meanwhile, the single-handed controller basically caters to gaming and multimedia playbacks.
New Samsung Gear VR offers more functionality
Dubbed as the SM-R324, Softpedia reported that the latest Samsung Gear VR offers more functionality with its own Bluetooth controller. At the moment, users need to buy a separate wireless remote to play more complex games. Aside from minor tweaks, the design mostly patterns to the current SM-R323 for the Galaxy S7.
For one thing, the older model only sports a touchpad with back, home, and volume keys. Samsung Gear VR SM-R323 is compatible with the Galaxy S7 edge, Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge+. Additionally, it connects to phones via a micro-USB port.
To illustrate, the Samsung Gear VR has a 101-degree depth of field and weighs 345 grams. While allowing users to experience 360-degree VR experience, the device thrives with an accelerator and proximity sensors too. Samsung's new tech toy currently sells for $99.99.
Well, the retail price of the new Samsung Gear VR is highly likely to be similar. Lastly, the upgraded headset is expected to be wide enough to support the 6.2" Galaxy S8. It may drop the microUSB in exchange for the USB Type-C port.
Daydream-ready Samsung phones
According to Engadget, the upcoming Samsung Gear VR is an easy bait for those craving for more capable game controls. Reportedly, future Samsung phones will be Daydream-ready without relying too much on Google's own headset. More details regarding the S8's official launch date may be revealed during MWC 2017.
Unfortunately, fan theories claim that the Samsung Gear VR and the Galaxy S8 will not hit stores until April. It is important to note that no official statement has been released as of now. All speculations would still have to be taken with a grain of salt.
