"Final Fantasy XV" Season Pass holders will get a new Booster Pack plus a new DLC, Square Enix announced recently. The company also announced Patch 1.05 would also be available for all players of the game.

The new content and updates are welcomed additions to "Final Fantasy XV," however, Patch 1.05 that comes with the Booster Pack and DLC seems to do damage than good for PS4 Pro players. Previously, "Final Fantasy XV" offered players an option of either using 'lite' or 'high' for frame rates.

Using the 'lite' option is most recommended by experts, citing that the "Final Fantasy XV" delivers a smooth and stable 30 FPS at 1080p resolution. The recommendation is based primarily on the fact that playing the game in this setting delivers consistency during gameplay.

Playing the game at 'high,' bumps the resolution to 1800p by employing PS4 Pro's checkerboarding method, this enhances "Final Fantasy XV's" game visuals without the consistent frame pacing. This however, also resulted in a jerky game motion, according to Eurogamer. With Patch 1.05, the option to choose lite and high are still available, however, the added higher frame-mode, consistent frame pacing is all but gone.

While retaining lite and high modes in "Final Fantasy XV," they do not function in the same manner as before. Lite mode still runs in 1080p, however, it now operates with an unlocked frame rate. It was discovered the mode now runs variably between 40-50 fps ranges instead of the previously locked 30 fps, according to Polygon.

It has been found by Digital Foundry that playing "Final Fantasy XV" in lite mode looking at the ground will yield a fluid 60 fps, that is if would be comfortable playing the entire game as if looking down on the action. The new reality is a choice between playing the game with bad frame pacing at a higher resolution or a wildly unstable unlocked frame rate.

The redeeming feature with the update is that controller response has improved over higher frame rate. However, it is inconsistent and not generally faster across the board. However, there is still hope; Square Enix has been consistently listening to user feedback during the development of "Final Fantasy XV" as evidenced by tweaks and improvements made to the game since launch.

Perhaps if Square Enix will heed the call of users to correct this oversight in the next update, and provide options for those who look for them, everyone would be happier.

Meanwhile, Square Enix announced it would be releasing "A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" as a free download beginning March 1. Previously, the title was only available as a pre-order bonus to various retail outlets.

The side-scrolling game is set 30 years before the events of "Final Fantasy XV." The game revolves around a bedtime story King Regis weaves for a young Noctis involving him and his friends warding off invaders.
