‘Attack On Titan’ Season 2 Premiere Date Confirmed: Second Wall Breached; Eren Gains More Powers [VIDEO]
ByThe wait is almost over, "Attack on Titan" fans! Funimation confirmed that Season 2 will air on April 1, 2017. A key art for the upcoming season was also unveiled, along with details about Eren's special abilities and the new Titan threat.
Season 2 was initially slated for a 2016 release but that was eventually moved to this year, IGN reported. Fans have been frustrated over the long waiting game, which is understandable given that the first season aired in 2013. Season 2's premiere date, however, is only less than two months away and it looks like the wait will be worth it.
You can check out the new promotional art for the series below, showcasing the courageous characters and man-eating Titans in the background. Season 1, which covered 35 chapters (four story arcs) of the manga, had 25 episodes. Season 2 will probably have the same number of episodes.
What should you expect from "Attack of Titan" Season 2? For one, the upcoming season will still follow Eren Jaeger as he struggles with his powers - the ability to transform into a Titan but manage to keep his wits and language with him. Instead of devouring humans, Eren will use his new powers to free the people and defeat the creatures invading his home, Geek reported.
Eren has defeated the Female Titan but he is not coming home to rest and peace. A horde of Titans is heading to Wall Rose and him, Mikasa and Armin must once again rise up and kill them. There are speculations that Eren will gain new powers that will boost his chances over these monsters.
The Survey Corps and the humans will be pushed into hiding behind the walls further in Season 2 of the manga-based anime series. This is because of the Titans' unrelenting advance in the humans' territory after bringing down the first wall.
"Attack on Titan" Season 2 is also expected to expand the myth surrounding the Titans' transformation and the history of the walls - Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sheena - that protect the last of humanity. It's safe to assume that the mystery behind the Titan buried beneath a cracked part of the wall will be revealed, too.
Season 2 will reveal new Titans such as the hairy "Beast Titan," Polygon reported. It also appears that the monsters are close to breaching the second wall in Season 2.
The upcoming season bears the ominous message: "Titans have been protecting us from other Titans this whole time." This hints that something worse than Titans awaits humanity beyond the borders.
